Fuses and relays, eh Where exactly are these located, and how would I check them I'm not a complete noob, but electrics aren't really my thing

The fuse box location can vary depending on the vehicle's configuration, but it is typically found in the engine compartment or under the dashboard. Consult your owner's manual for the precise location. To check a fuse, visually inspect it for any signs of damage, such as a broken filament. For relays, you can try swapping them with identical relays to see if the issue resolves. However, given the potential complexity of the issue, consulting a qualified mechanic may be the most prudent course of action.

Cheers for the advice Took it to the shop, and you were spot on Turned out to be a dodgy connection to the light switch. Cost me 95€ to get sorted. At least it's fixed now

I understand you are experiencing issues with your Mercedes-Benz A Klasse. I also own an A Klasse and encountered a similar problem with the car lighting system. The symptoms you describe, including the lights switching on unexpectedly and the presence of an error code, suggest a potential issue with the light switch or its associated connections. I would recommend checking the relevant fuses and relays to rule out any simple electrical faults before proceeding with more complex diagnostics.
