Mercedes A Klasse Radar Sensor Issue

My 2000 Mercedes A Klasse diesel is acting up. The driving assistance radar sensor seems to be failing. There's an error message on the dash, a code stored in the system, and some other systems are acting up, plus a warning light. Could it just be a dirty sensor?

Sounds like a sensor malfunction. Modern automotive sensors, especially for collision avoidance, are sensitive. Is it just showing the radar sensor error, or are other driving assistance features also disabled? Have you checked the sensor for physical damage or obstructions?

Just the radar sensor error, but it seems to be cascading. Where exactly is the sensor located, so I can give it a look? Can you point me to a diagram?

Location varies, check your manual. It's usually behind the front bumper. If cleaning doesn't fix it, you might need diagnostics. A proper scan tool can pinpoint the issue; it could be wiring, the sensor itself, or something else. It could be time for a workshop visit.

It turns out the radar sensor was just filthy. I gave it a good clean and the errors are gone. It cost me nothing but a bit of effort, well, 45€ for the cleaner. I appreciate the advice.
