Mercedes A Klasse Rain Light Sensor Issues

My 2022 Mercedes A Klasse with a gasoline engine is showing a rain-light sensor fault at 164091 km. This results in no automatic wiping in the rain, no automatic headlight control, and the speedometer dimming not working. The lights also switch on randomly. Has anyone else had similar problems? I suspect bubbles under the windshield gel pad are affecting the car electronics or the light sensor, possibly needing sensor calibration. I'm trying to understand the scope of the repair.

I have a similar Mercedes A Klasse and experienced comparable symptoms. The rain-light sensor fault triggered the same issues with the automatic wipers and headlights. The root cause in my case was the sensor itself. Did you check the sensor?

Thanks, that's helpful. When you say 'the sensor itself,' do you mean you needed a complete sensor replacement or was it a wiring issue perhaps requiring sensor calibration? Was the light sensor the definite culprit in your case?

In my case, the workshop diagnosed a faulty sensor due to the bubble formation. I advise taking it to a workshop to confirm the issue and avoid further car electronics problems.

Thanks for the information. I took it to the workshop, and you were right. The bubbles were indeed the cause, and they replaced the sensor. The final repair cost was 62€. Everything is working fine now!
