You propose that a compromised temperature sensor may be the cause? When you say 'check the basics' does it mean anything beyond a visual inspection?

Yes, the solar sensor, or any HVAC sensor, could be throwing things off. A visual inspection is a start. Fuses are easy to check with a multimeter if you have one. With a stored error code, and given it's affecting your heating, it might be worth having a workshop run a proper fault detection. Could save you guesswork and potential issues.

Thanks for the insights. The fault was in the solar sensor's wiring. A replacement was installed, resolving the issue. The vehicle now operates normally.

I have an A Klasse. I had a weird HVAC issue that turned out to be a dodgy temperature sensor. Could that solar sensor be feeding incorrect data to the climate control system? Have you checked the basics, like fuses and making sure the sensor isn't blocked?
