Mercedes B Klasse ABS Lateral Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Mercedes B Klasse diesel had a persistent ABS light issue, with a diagnostic scan indicating a lateral acceleration sensor fault affecting traction control and stability systems. The problem was confirmed to be the lateral sensor, and replacing it resolved the issue. The repair cost was 1000€, and the ABS light was successfully turned off, restoring the system's functionality.

Thanks for the quick response I haven't personally checked the wiring harness yet but the diagnostic report didn't mention any issues there Was your problem definitely the lateral sensor or could it have been something else causing the same symptoms

In my case the diagnostic scan also pointed to the lateral sensor and replacing it resolved the issue The symptoms you described are pretty consistent with a faulty lateral sensor If the connections appear ok I would suggest letting the shop change it

Thanks again for the advice I took it to the shop and they confirmed it was indeed the lateral acceleration sensor They replaced the control unit and recalibrated everything The ABS light is gone and all systems are back online It cost me exactly 1000€ as they initially quoted At least now I know what to look for in the future

I had a similar issue with my B Klasse some time ago Lateral sensor faults can be tricky Have you checked the wiring harness and connections to the sensor itself Sometimes it's just a loose connection or corroded terminal causing the problem
