Mercedes B Klasse Active Hood Fault and Airbag Warning

My 2014 Mercedes B Klasse electric is showing an "Active hood fault" message. The airbag warning light is also on. I checked the error memory and it shows triggered spring actuators with 233705 km mileage. Could this be a defective acceleration sensor, and what are the implications for the car safety system?
