Mercedes B Klasse Brake Fluid Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Mercedes B Klasse diesel exhibited low brake fluid levels and unusual brake pedal feedback, raising concerns about potential brake issues. The problem was likely due to worn brake pads or a possible leak. A thorough inspection of the brake system, including checking the calipers, wheel cylinders, rotors, and pad thickness, was recommended. The issue was confirmed to be worn brakes, which were addressed at a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply. Brake lines look okay at first glance. What exactly should I be looking for during a more thorough brake inspection? Any specific areas to focus on?

Check the calipers and wheel cylinders for leaks; look for dampness or fluid around the fittings. Inspect the rotors for scoring and the pads for thickness. If the pads are thin, that's your culprit. Low fluid compensates for the increased travel needed. I'd suggest a workshop visit.

Thanks, I appreciate the diagnosis. I took it to a workshop and you were spot on. Worn brakes were indeed the problem, resulting in low brake fluid. Total repair cost came to 480€ Thanks again!

Low brake fluid and pedal feel issues often point to worn pads or a leak. Have you checked your brake lines for any visible signs of leakage? A thorough brake inspection is warranted. Also, when was the last time you had your pads and rotors checked?
