Mercedes B Klasse Diesel Rough Start Issue

My 2013 Mercedes B Klasse diesel is acting up when it's cold. The engine runs rough on startup, almost like it's misfiring. I scanned it and got an error pointing to the PTC heater. I've also noticed my fuel consumption is higher. Could a bad electric auxiliary heater really cause all this? Mileage is around 238402 km. Any thoughts?

I had a similar issue with my B Klasse: rough starts and higher fuel consumption. Check the electrical fault in the heating system, especially the blower motor. Are you getting cold air from the HVAC system at startup?

Thanks for the quick reply. Cold air at startup, yes exactly! Does that confirm the PTC heater is likely the culprit? And was it a big job to fix?

Sounds like the PTC heater. It's likely defective and causing the electrical fault. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. I seem to remember the heating system needing some dismantling.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Dropped it off at the workshop and they confirmed it's the PTC heater. Quoted me around 350€ to replace it. Hopefully, this will solve the problem!
