Thanks for the input. When you had the issue, did you experience it on all doors or just a specific one? And did the central locking system fail completely?

Indeed, the central locking system failed entirely. Initially, it was intermittent, but it eventually became permanent. In my case, the issue seemed to originate from the driver's side door sensor, affecting the entire system. If you aren't comfortable diagnosing it yourself, I'd suggest a workshop visit, it will save you time.

It was indeed the wiring harness to the door sensor. The estimated repair cost was accurate. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

That's quite a pickle! I drive a Mercedes as well, a C-Class, and a few years back I had a similar issue. It sounds like a classic case of a dodgy car sensor acting up. The car alarm was going haywire due to a faulty signal. Have you checked the wiring harness leading to the door sensor? A break in the wire or a loose connection can cause all sorts of problems. It is like a faulty nerve in the body causing pain.
