Mercedes B Klasse Electric Steering Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mercedes B Klasse experienced increased steering effort and vibration, suspected to be due to power steering failure or a faulty steering angle sensor affecting alignment and traction control. The problem was confirmed to be a faulty steering angle sensor, which was resolved through replacement and recalibration. This solution effectively addressed the steering issues.

The vibration is noticeable at lower speeds and seems to lessen somewhat at higher speeds. I will inspect the tires for uneven wear. Could a simple wheel alignment really cause such a dramatic change in steering effort, or is the angle sensor itself the more likely culprit here? What was the solution for your Corsa's alignment problem?

The garage initially suspected the power steering pump, but the wheel alignment was way off. They sorted that, and the heavy steering went away. The shaking could still point to the angle sensor, especially if it's throwing up traction control errors. It might be worth getting the sensor replacement. Get a workshop to check the error codes to pinpoint the issue.

I took the vehicle to a certified workshop, and their diagnostic confirmed a faulty steering angle sensor. Following the sensor replacement and recalibration, the steering issues have been resolved. Thank you for confirming my suspicions and providing helpful guidance.

I had similar alignment problems on my old Vauxhall Corsa. Steering got heavy. It turned out to be a dodgy wheel alignment. Have you checked your tyres for uneven wear? That can be a big clue. Is the shaking constant, or just at certain speeds?
