Mercedes B Klasse Engine Stalling Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Mercedes B Klasse hybrid was experiencing engine stalling at idle and a check engine light, suspected to be due to a fuel tank ventilation system leak, possibly involving the EVAP system. A defective activated charcoal filter was considered a potential cause. A suggestion was made to check the purge valve, part of the EVAP system, and to conduct a smoke test to confirm the leak. The issue was resolved by replacing the activated charcoal filter, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Fuel smell, no. Where is this purge valve located? Can I visually inspect it, or is it buried? I'm not a mechanic, so simple explanations are best.

It's usually near the engine, but location varies. You might spot cracks or damage, but diagnosis requires tools. Given the symptoms, it's probably a defective charcoal filter. I took mine to a workshop. They confirmed the EVAP system leak with a smoke test.

Thanks, I took it to a workshop. You were spot on. They did a smoke test, confirmed the leak in the fuel tank ventilation system, and replaced the activated charcoal filter. Cost me 275€. Runs great now. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my B Klasse. Check the purge valve. It's part of the EVAP system and can cause a leak if it fails. That check engine light and stalling definitely sounds familiar. Get it smoke tested to confirm the leak detection. Is there any fuel smell?
