When you say heavily contaminated, what do you mean? Just dirty, or something worse? How did you diagnose it? Was it a visual inspection, or did you use a scanner?

Contaminated means gunked up with oily residue and dirt. It was obvious when I took it apart. I only did a visual check. Cleaning it didn't solve the problem, so I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the idle control system and cleaned it properly. Maybe get it checked out by a professional to save yourself the trouble.

I took it to a workshop, and you were right. The air intake was heavily contaminated, affecting the idle control valve. They cleaned everything, and the engine stalling is gone! It cost 425€, but it's fixed.

I had a similar issue with my B Klasse Stalling engine, check engine light, the works. Have you checked your air intake? Mine was heavily contaminated, leading to engine idle problems. It's worth a look before replacing parts.
