Mercedes B Klasse Radar Sensor Issue

My 2018 Mercedes B Klasse with a gasoline engine is throwing a fit. I'm getting a persistent error message about the radar sensor in the speedometer. It's stored an error code, and it's causing other systems to freak out with warning lights galore. Collision Avoidance is definitely not avoiding anything right now. I'm thinking it might just be a dirty sensor. Has anyone dealt with a similar sensor malfunction? Any ideas before I shell out a ton of money?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Mercedes B Klasse was experiencing persistent error messages related to the radar sensor, affecting the collision avoidance system and causing multiple warning lights. The issue was suspected to be a dirty sensor. Cleaning the sensor, located behind the front bumper, resolved the problem, eliminating the error messages and restoring system functionality.

I had something similar happen on my Mercedes. Not a B Klasse, but still, a Mercedes. I was getting all sorts of weird errors related to the radar sensor and driver assist features. Have you tried just cleaning the sensor? Sometimes it's just road grime messing things up. The radar sensor is part of the collision avoidance system, it might be an easy fix.

Yeah, I was leaning towards cleaning it first. But where exactly IS the radar sensor located? And what's the best way to clean it without damaging anything? I don't want to make things worse! What kind of cleaning product should I use or avoid?

Okay, so on mine it was behind the front bumper, pretty much dead center. I just used a soft cloth and some window cleaner, very gently. I'd say, though, if you're not comfortable doing that, maybe take it to a workshop. Sensor failure can be a pain, and you don't want to break it. They should be able to diagnose it properly, and if it's just dirty, clean it for you.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out, you were spot on. Took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the radar sensor was just filthy. 45€ later, and it's working perfectly. All those error messages are gone. I appreciate the help!
