Thank you for sharing your experience. If you can still remember, how much did the software update end up costing you? And has anything else come up since then that you should consider? Your information is extremely helpful. Thank you very much!

Hello, no problem, you're welcome. So, fixing this "sporadically faulty communication between control units" cost me around €955. But hey, everything has been running great ever since! And regarding your first question, yes, the engine oil contamination was indeed a problem. But after my visit to the garage, the problem was solved and everything has been fine since then. So it can be said that it was worth it. To be honest, it's always good to have the mechanic check for such things. Hope this helps you!

Hi, that's really good news and reassures me a little! 955 sounds quite expensive, but if it solves the problems, it's money well spent. I agree, it's always better to have the mechanic take a look. I will definitely take the engine oil into account. Your experience has definitely helped me! I will now make an appointment at the garage and hope for the best. Thanks again for your help!

Good day, I am seeking advice: My 2018 Mercedes A-Class with 90,500 km is experiencing engine and oil warning lights, overheating issues, and metal splinters in the oil. What could be causing these problems, and what steps should I take to address them? Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.

The symptoms you're describing could indicate a serious engine problem, possibly related to the oil pump or even internal engine damage. The metal splinters in the oil are particularly concerning as they could be a sign of wear or damage to internal engine components. I would strongly recommend not driving the car and having it towed to a professional mechanic for a thorough inspection as soon as possible. This is a safety-relevant issue and should be addressed immediately.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2014 Mercedes E Class. The problem I had later was "Sporadic faulty communication between control units". It was actually some kind of software bug that meant the systems couldn't communicate properly with each other. Don't worry, it sounds more serious than it actually was, but it was still necessary to find a solution. The workshop then carried out a software update to rectify the error. The process is fairly unspectacular: the car is connected to a computer, the update is installed and then everything works as normal again. I wouldn't have expected that! I hope that helps you. Good luck with solving your problem!
