Mercedes C Klasse Alarm System Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Mercedes C Klasse owner experienced a constant siren communication fault error, leading to a non-functional alarm system. The issue was suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection. After seeking advice, it was suggested to check fuses or wiring, but due to a lack of confidence in handling electrical issues, the owner opted for professional help. The problem was resolved by cleaning a corroded connector on the siren, restoring the alarm system's functionality at a cost of 95€.

The error is constant, unfortunately I haven't checked the fuses myself, I'm not really that confident messing with electrical stuff When you say wiring issue, is that something I could potentially fix myself, or should I just bite the bullet and take it in If I do take it in, will they need to replace the whole alarm controller

If the error is constant, and you're not comfortable with electrics, I'd advise against poking around too much You could make things worse The 95€ estimate suggests they're hoping for a simple fix, like a loose connector They shouldn't need to replace the whole alarm controller for a wiring fault That would be a much bigger job and cost a lot more It's best to take it to a workshop

Okay, thanks for the advice I took it to the shop, and you were right It was just a corroded connector on the siren They cleaned it up, and everything is working fine now The vehicle security is back Cost me exactly 95€ I appreciate the help

Sounds like a pain Is the error message constant, or does it come and go Have you checked the fuses related to the alarm controller Sometimes it's a simple fix like that A wiring issue can be tricky, like chasing a ghost in the machine Disarming the alarm usually isn't the problem, it's the communication with the siren itself Is there any other electrical issue
