No impacts that I know of. I will need to look up the error code again.

The error code would definitely help narrow things down. The fact that the actuators have triggered, and you're seeing an airbag warning lamp alongside the 'Active hood fault' message, points to a potential issue within the car electronics related to the collision detection system. It is possible that a faulty impact sensor is sending erroneous signals, causing the system to deploy. Given the complexity of the system and the integration with safety features, I would advise having a qualified technician diagnose the issue. These systems are all intertwined, and even if it is a faulty impact sensor, professional diagnostics will be required to ensure correct replacement and system reset to avoid further issues with car safety features.

Thanks for the info. Took it to a workshop, they replaced the impact sensor, and all seems good now. Exactly as you described.

I had a similar issue with my 2018 Volvo XC60. The 'active hood' system improves pedestrian safety during a collision. It uses impact sensors to detect a collision. When triggered, actuators rapidly deploy the hood to create a larger crumple zone. You mention the spring actuators are triggered, suggesting the system believes a collision has occurred. Has the vehicle been involved in any minor impacts? Also, can you confirm the exact error code you retrieved?
