Mercedes C Klasse Hybrid Reduced Engine Power

Experiencing reduced engine power with my 2018 Mercedes C Klasse hybrid, check engine light is on, and error memory indicates a defective engine control unit. Could this be linked to a faulty main relay affecting the vehicle electronics? Has anyone experienced ECU repair and faced similar reduced engine power scenarios?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Vauxhall Astra, though it wasn't a hybrid. Same symptoms, though – sluggish engine performance and a bunch of error codes. Turned out to be a dodgy relay messing with the engine control. Was your error code very specific about the ECU being totally toast, or was it more generic?

Thanks for sharing your experience! The error code pointed directly to the engine control unit, but I'm hoping it's just a power supply issue due to the main relay. Did your Vauxhall give a specific ECU error, or was it more vague? I want to be sure before I commit to an expensive ECU repair.

Honestly, the error code on my Astra wasn't crystal clear – it hinted at ECU issues, but like you said, it could have been a power thing. Given yours is pointing straight at the ECU, it's probably worth having a professional take a look. They can properly diagnose it before you start throwing money at ECU repair. I ended up going to a workshop, and they sorted it quickly.

You were spot on! I took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be a defective main relay, just as you suspected. It was affecting the engine control unit's power supply. The ECU itself was fine, thankfully! Replaced the relay for 120€, and everything is back to normal. Engine performance is back, and no more error codes! Thanks for the advice!
