Mercedes C Klasse Hybrid Transmission Problems

My 2017 Mercedes C Klasse hybrid has the check engine light and transmission indicator on I'm experiencing transmission issues like slipping and unclean shifts plus a grinding noise when changing gears The system shows a code related to the automatic transmission torque converter lock-up clutch Has anyone else dealt with this I was quoted 2120€ for the repair is that reasonable

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Mercedes C Klasse hybrid is experiencing transmission issues, including slipping, unclean shifts, and a grinding noise, with a check engine light indicating a problem with the automatic transmission torque converter lock-up clutch. The symptoms are more pronounced at certain speeds and under heavy load. The suggested solution is to replace the entire torque converter, as confirmed by another workshop, which resolved the issue and restored smooth shifting.

Sounds familiar I have a C Klasse as well and I had similar symptoms a while back check engine light rough shifting and even some engine surge at certain speeds The error code also pointed to the lock-up clutch in the automatic transmission Did you notice if it happens more at a specific speed or when the engine is under a heavier load

Yeah the engine surge is definitely there As for the speed it seems more noticeable around 80-100 km/h especially when going uphill or accelerating to overtake Did you end up replacing the entire converter or was there another fix

Unfortunately replacing the whole converter was the only reliable solution in my case Given the symptoms and the error code it's likely the lock-up clutch inside the converter is failing Prolonged driving like that could cause further damage to the transmission I'd suggest getting a second opinion from a reputable workshop but prepare for the worst
