Mercedes C Klasse Oil Pressure Warning Light
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Mercedes C Klasse owner experienced an oil pressure warning light, suspecting oil contamination due to overdue maintenance. Possible causes include a clogged oil filter or insufficient oil level. An oil change and filter replacement were suggested as potential solutions. After a workshop inspection, the system was flushed, and the oil and filter were changed, resolving the warning light issue.

Oil level is fine. I haven't checked the filter. I use the oil recommended in the manual. Could a simple oil change and filter fix this, or has the contamination caused internal damage?

An oil change and filter might help if caught early, but the warning light suggests deeper issues. Contamination could increase engine wear. Get a workshop inspection to assess the engine.

Thanks. The workshop confirmed some wear. They flushed the system, changed the oil and filter, and added an engine cleaner for 165€. The warning light is gone.

Exceeded maintenance can cause oil contamination and pressure issues. Check the oil filter. A clogged filter restricts flow. Also, check the oil level. Insufficient oil triggers the warning. What oil are you using?
