Mercedes C Klasse Rear Window Defroster Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Mercedes C Klasse had a rear window defroster issue, with the rear window heating not functioning and the windshield heating underperforming. The problem was traced to a heavily discharged and failing battery. After replacing the battery and clearing the error code, both the rear window and windshield heating systems were restored to proper working condition.

How exactly do I check the battery voltage I have a multimeter somewhere but I'm not really sure where to connect it or what voltage I should be looking for Is there a specific setting I need to use on the multimeter Is it safe to do myself or will I risk electric shock

You should see around 12.6 volts with the engine off If it’s lower the battery might be the problem But messing with car electrics can be tricky Maybe best to have a workshop take a look to avoid problems with the car defrost

I took it to a local shop and you were right The battery was heavily discharged and failing They replaced it cleared the error code and now the rear window and windshield heating are working perfectly again Cost me 290€ which isn't ideal but at least it's fixed I appreciate the help
