Mercedes C Klasse Rear Window Defroster Problem

My 2017 Mercedes C Klasse with a gasoline engine has a rear window defroster issue The rear window heating isn't working I've checked the fuses and the error memory has a stored fault Also the windshield heating isn't working as powerfully as it used to Any ideas

Sounds like a battery issue Have you checked the voltage

How exactly do I check the battery voltage I have a multimeter somewhere but I'm not really sure where to connect it or what voltage I should be looking for Is there a specific setting I need to use on the multimeter Is it safe to do myself or will I risk electric shock

You should see around 12.6 volts with the engine off If it’s lower the battery might be the problem But messing with car electrics can be tricky Maybe best to have a workshop take a look to avoid problems with the car defrost

I took it to a local shop and you were right The battery was heavily discharged and failing They replaced it cleared the error code and now the rear window and windshield heating are working perfectly again Cost me 290€ which isn't ideal but at least it's fixed I appreciate the help
