Mercedes C Klasse Transfer Case Issue

My 2012 Mercedes C Klasse with a gasoline engine is showing signs of transfer case oil wear. At 41915 km, the gearbox slips and shifts roughly. It seems like there might be defective gears in the transfer case. Has anyone else had this happen with this car? A repair might cost 330€ if that's the problem. I'm wondering about transfer fluid issues and possible gear grinding.

I have a similar Mercedes C Klasse and had similar issues. Have you checked the transfer fluid level? Might be low.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me more about what happened with yours? Did you have the same slippage and rough shifting? Was the transfer case the actual cause? How many kilometers were on it, what did you do to fix it, and how much did it cost?

I did experience similar shifting issues. It did turn out to be the transfer case. I would recommend taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for confirming the diagnosis. That was helpful. The workshop confirmed the gears in the transfer case were defective. They had to replace it and change the fluid, which came to 330€.
