Mercedes C Klasse Transmission Issue

I am experiencing an issue with my 2011 Mercedes C Klasse, gasoline engine, with 202427 km on the clock. The transmission fault indicator illuminates intermittently, and an error is stored pertaining to the transmission oil pressure sensor. Furthermore, the gearbox occasionally enters emergency mode, shifts are sometimes unclean or slip, and there have been instances of grinding noises during gear changes. Could a low gearbox oil level truly be the sole culprit behind such a cascade of symptoms? Has anyone encountered a similar predicament?

I had something similar on my C Klasse. Started with the engine light and then the transmission was acting up. Did you check the oil pressure? Maybe the pressure gauge is bad, or the oil sensor is faulty. Could be as simple as that.

When you experienced the issue, did you also observe all the symptoms I described, including the emergency mode and grinding noises? Was your issue definitively resolved by addressing the oil pressure or sensor specifically?

Well, I didn't have the grinding noises, but the emergency mode and slipping were definitely there. I'm not a mechanic, so I can't say for sure if it's the same problem, but similar. Honestly, with those noises, maybe you should just get it to a workshop to be safe.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. Indeed, I have heeded your advice and sought professional assistance. It turns out that, as suspected, the oil level was critically low, leading to pressure sensor malfunction. The repair, including fluid replacement and sensor replacement, amounted to 365€. Thank you for guiding me towards the right diagnosis.
