Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't done any sensor testing yet, I am not very experienced with that. Any advice on how to proceed with testing to identify a potential electrical fault?

Confirming the issue, it could very well be a defective cable or plug connection. However, I would advise taking it to a workshop for professional diagnosis. It will probably save you some time and money in the long run.

Thank you for the advice. I followed your recommendation and took the car to a workshop. Indeed, it was the connector of the water sensor. The cable had corroded. They replaced the connector and cleared the error memory. The check engine light is now off, and the engine runs smoothly again. The repair cost was indeed around 95€.

I had a similar issue with my C Klasse. Same sensor fault. Have you performed any sensor testing to rule out a faulty moisture sensor or an electrical fault in the sensor's wiring?
