Thanks for the input. Was your voltage regulator issue intermittent, or a complete failure? I'm trying to figure out if I should replace the alternator or if something else is going on.

The symptoms started intermittently, then became more frequent until the car wouldn't start. To be sure, have a workshop run a diagnostic on the alternator before replacing it.

I appreciate the insights. Your experience proved invaluable. I took the vehicle to a workshop, and the diagnosis confirmed a defective battery and alternator, with the voltage regulator causing the overvoltage. The repair, including parts and labor, was 290€ Thank you again for your assistance.

I also drive a Citan, though with fewer kilometers. Your symptoms sound very much like what I experienced. Have you checked the voltage regulator? A failing alternator can cause a power surge and fry car electronics, leading to overvoltage situations. I am not sure about the battery though.
