Mercedes CLA audio system failure

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2023 Mercedes CLA gasoline. It has about 182716 km on it. The audio system is completely dead, no sound at all. The navigation is also not working. I scanned it with my OBD reader, and it's showing a MOST bus fault. From what I've been reading, this could be a defect in one of the control units connected to the MOST bus system, which handles data transmission via fiber optics. I'm concerned about the potential cost. I've seen estimates around 1000€ for this type of repair. Does anyone have experience with this type of automotive protocol issue or the audio system in general? It's just weird how the whole thing went silent.

Ugh, that sounds familiar. I had something similar happen in my CLA. Was a real pain! Is everything else working alright, like the display itself comes on but just no sound?

Yes, exactly! The display comes on, I can see the radio stations, and the navigation map is displayed, but there is absolutely no audio output. Everything looks normal except for the fact that there is no sound. Did you experience the exact same issue, and how did you resolve it?

Yup, that's the same thing I had. Honestly, with the MOST bus issues it's usually tricky to diagnose yourself without the proper tools. I'd bite the bullet and take it to a shop that knows Mercedes well. Could be a faulty amp, head unit, or something else on that fiber optic loop. They can pinpoint it much faster than you or I could. Sorry, not much help, but good luck!

Thanks, I appreciate the confirmation that it sounds like a common issue and the advice to take it to a shop. It's what I suspected, but I was hoping there might be a simple fix. I'll schedule an appointment with a mechanic who specializes in Mercedes. Turns out it was a faulty amplifier on the MOST bus, right where the mechanic looked first. They replaced it, and everything is working perfectly now. The cost was almost exactly what I expected, right around 1000€. Thanks again for your help!
