Mercedes CLA Brake Pedal Feels Spongy

My 2020 Mercedes CLA gasoline engine has spongy brake pedal feedback and the fluid is low I see no leaks Could this be worn brakes or something worse

That sounds familiar I had something similar happen Spongy pedal and a brake warning light I'd definitely check your car brakes thoroughly first It's worth checking the brake lines too just in case

When you say check the brake lines what exactly am I looking for Obvious cracks or leaks I assume Is there anything more subtle I should be aware of Did replacing your car brakes fix your issue or was there more to it

Cracks or any signs of fluid weeping are the big things to look for on the brake lines In my case new car brakes and a fluid top-up solved the problem completely Given our mileage maybe it's best to get it checked out by a workshop It's not worth risking it with the brake system

I took it to a trusted workshop for a brake inspection The front pads were completely shot and the rotors were pretty bad They replaced the pads and rotors flushed the brake system and topped off the fluid Pedal feels solid again and the warning light is gone It cost me around 480€ which is annoying but way better than a crash Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction
