Mercedes CLA diesel oil temperature warning

Thanks for the quick response! The car diagnostics report did say the engine oil temperature sensor was faulty. They mentioned the possibility of a cable or plug connection issue as the most likely cause. But could a simple bad connection really trigger the oil pressure lamp too? It seems odd that two separate warnings would be linked to a single sensor problem.

Yeah, I understand your skepticism. It does sound weird that one faulty sensor can cause multiple warnings. In my case, the faulty coolant sensor also messed with the fuel mixture, so the car was running rough. I'd say, if the diagnostics specifically point to the oil temperature sensor and they suspect the wiring, it's worth having them check it out thoroughly. Considering the error I would suggest going to a workshop and have the sensor replaced.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! It was indeed the oil temperature sensor and a corroded connector. The total repair was 95€. All warning lights are gone now. Thanks again for the help!

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot, although it was the coolant temperature sensor in my case. The symptoms were almost the same, warning lights all over the dash. Did the car diagnostics point specifically to the temperature sensor? And also, did they check the wiring harness and connector to the sensor itself? Because those can sometimes be the culprit. I mean, is it really the sensor, or just a loose wire?
