Interesting. You mean the actual cable connections to the battery terminals? What exactly was wrong with yours? Was it just loose or something? And did yours throw any codes related to the ECU issue or engine diagnostics before it died?

Yeah, exactly the battery terminals. Mine were corroded and a bit loose. Cleaned them up, tightened them, and it fired right up. Honestly, with a diesel and that kind of mileage, could be a number of things. But definitely check those connections first. If that's not it, I'd get it to a workshop for proper engine diagnostics. Could be something more serious.

You were spot on! Checked the battery connections and they were indeed loose and corroded. Cleaned them up, tightened them, and she started right up. Apparently, it caused some weird voltage drop that messed with the ECU. The garage confirmed it. Total cost was 155€ for cleaning everything and checking the engine software. Thanks a lot for the tip!

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Mercedes C-Class a while back. Check engine light, then wouldn't start. Turned out to be a dodgy connection to the battery. Simple fix, but caused a lot of grief. Have you checked those?
