Mercedes CLA Hybrid GPS Antenna Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Mercedes CLA Hybrid experienced a navigation system failure due to a GPS antenna issue, with no GPS reception detected. The problem was likely caused by a defective GPS antenna, though a loose cable connection at the head unit or antenna base could also be a factor. It was suggested to check the Fakra connector for a secure fit, but ultimately, a technician confirmed the antenna was defective, leading to its replacement and resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. Where exactly is the head unit located, and what should I be looking for when checking the cable connection? Is there a specific type of connector I should be aware of when dealing with vehicle GPS and the antenna repair?

The head unit is typically located behind the central display in the dashboard. As for the connector type, it's usually a Fakra connector, often color-coded. Ensure it's firmly seated. However, given the error message and your symptoms, the likelihood of a defective GPS antenna remains high. I would recommend consulting a qualified technician to diagnose the car electronics and confirm the need for an antenna repair. This way, you can be certain before investing in a new GPS antenna.

Thanks, that's helpful advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right – the GPS antenna was indeed defective. They replaced it, and now the navigation is working perfectly again. Cost me about what I expected, around 200€. Appreciate the assistance with my car GPS problem!

I understand you're experiencing issues with your GPS antenna. I own a Mercedes CLA as well and encountered a similar issue impacting my car GPS functionality. It appears that the GPS antenna itself may indeed be defective, as you suspect. Before proceeding with the antenna repair, I advise you to check the antenna cable connection at the head unit and the antenna base. A loose connection could mimic a defective antenna.
