Mercedes CLA steering issue resolved

My 2017 Mercedes CLA with a gasoline engine is acting up. The steering wheel feels stiff, like the power steering is failing, and it's vibrating like crazy. Could a defective steering angle sensor cause these symptoms? I've read that faulty coding in the steering column's automotive sensors can mess with the electronic stability and wheel alignment. Anyone else experienced this sensor failure?

Sounds familiar. I had similar steering issues with my CLA. Vibrating steering wheel and increased effort to turn. If the steering angle sensor is sending bad data, it can definitely affect the power steering and electronic stability control. Have you checked for any error codes related to the steering?

Yeah, the error code points to a problem with the steering angle sensor. You mentioned similar issues – did it require a complete sensor replacement or just a recalibration? Was the wheel alignment affected, too?

For me, recalibration didn't fix it. I ended up replacing the steering angle sensor. Seriously, just take it to a workshop and let them check the sensor values and its coding. They can also check the wheel alignment, which you should always do after messing with steering components.

Thanks for the advice! It was indeed the steering angle sensor. Got it replaced and coded correctly at a local workshop. Cost me 195€ all in. Steering is back to normal, no more vibrating. Appreciate the help!
