Mercedes CLK Diesel Engine Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Mercedes CLK Diesel with 292,641 km is experiencing engine issues, including a check engine light, rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion is a fuel pressure sensor issue, possibly due to a defective cable or plug connection. After checking the sensor, the focus shifts to examining the wiring and connectors for signs of corrosion or damage. A faulty connection to the fuel pressure sensor is identified and resolved, leading to the resolution of all symptoms.

Thats helpful to know about your Volvo When you say fuel injector connection do you mean the electrical connector specifically And if so were there any specific signs you noticed like a loose fit or corrosion Ive checked the fuel pressure sensor plug but maybe I need to look closer Also would a faulty fuel injector cause the check engine light to illuminate Trying to avoid a huge bill at the shop if its something simple

Yes I am referring to the electrical connector to the fuel injector In my case there was visible corrosion on the pins within the connector The check engine light illuminated due to the inconsistent fuel delivery caused by the poor connection While addressing the connector resolved the issue for me it is important to note that your Mercedes CLK employs a different engine management system Given the potential for misdiagnosis and the associated costs I would recommend seeking a professional diagnosis to accurately pinpoint the problem

Thanks for the advice I appreciate you sharing your experience I took it to a workshop and you were right it was a faulty connection to the fuel pressure sensor They replaced the connector and wiring and it solved all the problems Total cost was 95€ So check engine light is off no more engine stalling and the fuel delivery is back to normal Thanks again

The symptoms you describe are certainly indicative of a fuel system issue While I cannot definitively diagnose the problem remotely I can share a similar experience I had with my previous vehicle a Volvo V70 It presented with a check engine light rough idling and intermittent stalling In that instance the issue stemmed from a faulty fuel injector connection I would advise you to meticulously examine the wiring and connectors associated with the fuel pressure sensor and the fuel injectors Should you identify any signs of corrosion or damage addressing those issues may resolve the problem However given the complexity of modern engine management systems a professional diagnostic assessment may be warranted
