Mercedes CLK Electronic Parking Brake Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Mercedes CLK experienced an electronic parking brake malfunction, with the handbrake non-functional and a warning light on. The issue was suspected to be a defective electric motor in the brake caliper, confirmed by a fault code indicating a rear brake fault. After a workshop diagnostic, the electric motor failure was verified, and replacing the motor resolved the problem.

The fault code confirms a rear brake fault. Visual inspection of the brake switch shows no issues. The control module looks fine. Is there a way to be sure it's the motor before I replace it?

Considering the fault code and your checks, motor failure is very likely. A workshop can confirm this. Replacement is often the only real solution. I suggest taking it there.

I understand. The workshop confirmed the electric motor failure with a diagnostic check. The repair cost 505€. The problem is now solved.

Are there any fault codes? Have you checked the brake switch and control module for damage or corrosion? It does sound like the motor, but diagnostics are important. Is the warning light always on, or does it come and go?
