Mercedes CLK engine stalling and power reduction

My 2010 Mercedes CLK with a gasoline engine has a check engine light, engine stalling at idle, and reduced power. The diagnostic report indicates a fault with the rail pressure sensor signal. Has anyone encountered similar difficulties? The mechanic estimated around 240€ for the repair.

I had a similar issue with my old Vauxhall Corsa, although mine had a diesel engine. Check engine light, loss of power, the works. It could indeed be the rail pressure sensor. The sensor signal being faulty definitely sounds like the sensor itself is failing. Did the mechanic check the wiring to the sensor? Sometimes a bad connection can cause similar problems. Is it difficult to replace the sensor?

Thank you for your swift response. I appreciate your input with your Vauxhall Corsa experience. I am uncertain if the mechanic inspected the wiring; I will inquire. I am a novice and unsure about the replacement process. Is replacing the sensor a straightforward task, or does it necessitate specialized tools or expertise?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how difficult it is on your Mercedes. On my Corsa, it wasn't too bad, but access was a bit tight. Given the symptoms and the error code, it does sound like the pressure sensor is to blame. It might be best to get a professional to do it, especially with a fuel injection system. A poor repair there could cause more problems.

I appreciate your guidance and recommendations. I followed your suggestion and consulted with a skilled technician, who confirmed that the pressure sensor was indeed faulty. The sensor has been replaced, and the engine is now running smoothly. Thank you again for your assistance!
