Mercedes CLK hands free microphone failure

My 2010 Mercedes CLK, with a diesel engine and about 130780 km, has a completely failed hands-free microphone. Telephony is impossible, and the error memory shows a fault. I suspect a defective infotainment system. Has anyone seen this?

I have a CLK, and a similar audio input problem came up. The voice recognition system became completely unresponsive, affecting all telephony functions. Have you checked the volume control settings specifically for the microphone within the infotainment system's menu? Sometimes the microphone gain is inadvertently set to zero. Is speech recognition also impacted, or only the telephone's microphone?

Thank you for your response. I have verified the volume control settings, including those specific to the microphone. The speech recognition functionality is also non-operational. Is this the same problem you faced?

Yes, that mirrors my experience precisely. After exhausting all basic troubleshooting, the solution, as diagnosed by a qualified technician, involved replacing a component within the infotainment system itself. While inconvenient, it resolved the issue entirely. Based on your description, I would recommend consulting with a reputable workshop equipped to diagnose Mercedes-Benz systems.

I appreciate your confirmation and advice. It appears a visit to a workshop is indeed necessary. Following diagnostics, the issue was identified as a faulty component within the infotainment system, as you suggested. Replacement of the indicated part has restored the hands-free functionality. Thank you again.
