Mercedes CLK Headlight Range Control Problem

Headlight range control malfunction on a 2006 Mercedes CLK Diesel engine My adaptive headlights are acting up I'm getting an error and a warning light The low beams point too low or too high I suspect a servomotor issue I've checked the headlight switch and light intensity settings Could it be the control module

You're experiencing issues with your Mercedes CLK's headlight range control Several factors could be contributing Before assuming a faulty servomotor, have you verified the wiring harness connecting the headlight assembly to the vehicle's electrical system A damaged or corroded connector can mimic the symptoms of a defective component When the fault occurs, does the intensity setting change erratically

Good point about the wiring harness, I'll give that a look I hadn't thought about corrosion As for the light intensity, it doesn't seem to fluctuate wildly It's more of a static 'wrong' setting Do you think a diagnostic tool beyond my basic OBD2 reader would be needed to pinpoint the exact servomotor

Given that the light intensity setting remains relatively stable despite the malfunction, the issue seems localized to the headlight assembly itself, and could be the servomotor While a generic OBD2 reader might display a fault code, it may lack the granularity to diagnose the precise servomotor at fault within the adaptive lighting system It is recommendable that a certified workshop utilizes more sophisticated diagnostic equipment to pinpoint any faulty components, which will save you time and money

Thanks for the confirmation I took it to a shop, and you were spot on Turns out it was a defective servomotor inside the headlight, just as suspected Total repair cost was around 1040€ Appreciate the help
