Mercedes CLK rough engine running issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Mercedes CLK with a diesel engine was experiencing rough running and a check engine light, with a diagnostic code indicating "reset quantity drift compensation" and a probable injector issue. The initial suspicion was a faulty injector, but it was suggested to check car sensors, such as the lambda sensor, before replacing parts. A system reset procedure exists but requires professional tools. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed a faulty injector on cylinder three, replaced it, and performed a reset, resolving the issue.

Thanks for getting back to me. When you say "car sensors", which ones specifically are you referring to? I'm not really a mechanic, so I'm not sure where to start looking. Did you try any kind of system reset before replacing parts?

In my case, the lambda sensor was the culprit. However, given the error message you received, the workshop advised me that it might affect fuel economy. Although a reset procedure exists, it requires specialized diagnostic tools. It is recommended to seek professional assistance to avoid potentially damaging your car's computer.

My CLK situation: I took your advice and went to a workshop. Turns out the injector on cylinder three was indeed faulty. They replaced it and performed the reset procedure after. Runs like new now. Total cost was 515€. Thanks for your help!

I experienced a similar issue with my CLK. The error code pointed towards fuel injector compensation being off. Have you checked your car sensors? Ensure they are functioning correctly before assuming the injector is faulty.
