Mercedes Diesel Injection Problem Solved
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Mercedes M Klasse diesel was experiencing poor performance, high fuel consumption, engine stalling, and black smoke during acceleration, suspected to be due to a faulty injection system. The issue was traced to a loose and corroded cable connection to one of the injectors. After cleaning and securing the connection, the vehicle's performance improved significantly, resolving the problem.

The smoke is definitely black What sensor was it on your Megane and where was it located Maybe it's a similar thing on my diesel engine

Mine was the crankshaft position sensor It's unlikely to be the exact same part on your Mercedes but the symptoms sound really similar I'd suggest getting it checked by someone who knows their stuff before you make things worse

Thanks for the advice You were spot on I took it to a workshop and it turns out the cable to one of the injectors was loose and corroded They cleaned it up and secured it properly Cost me 95€ and it's running like a dream now No more smoke and the power is back!

Sounds rough I had similar issues with my old Renault Megane (petrol though) Turned out to be a faulty sensor connection affecting the fuel injection Was the smoke black or more greyish
