Mercedes E Klasse control unit communication error
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Mercedes E Klasse with a diesel engine is experiencing a control unit communication error, leading to the check engine light being on, engine overheating, and coolant leakage. The problem could stem from either a wiring issue or a control module fault. After a diagnostic scan, it was determined that the issue was due to a defective plug connection, which was promptly repaired.

When you say data link acting up are you talking about a physical connection problem or is it more about the software itself I am not sure if I should be chasing a wiring issue or if I need to start thinking about a software installation and I am not sure where to begin

Honestly it's hard to say for sure without diagnostics but my gut feeling leans towards a cable or plug connection of the component being defective With these cars so much relies on the control module getting the right signals I'd suggest a workshop and a proper scan It saves guesswork

Sounds rough I had something similar with my E Klasse though I didn't have the coolant leak The check engine light and communication fault were the main issues Is it possible it's a software glitch I wonder if the data link to one of the sensors is acting up which could cause weird issues
