Mercedes E Klasse Diesel Engine Power Loss and Whistling Noise

I'm having some issues with my 2021 Mercedes E Klasse diesel It's got about 294344 km on it Recently, the check engine light popped up, and I've noticed a significant reduction in engine power The response is sluggish, and there's this weird whistling noise, almost a loud hissing sound when I accelerate Sometimes, the engine even stalls when idling, and my fuel consumption has definitely gone up I think the issue might be with the boost pressure actuator, possibly a defective electrical bypass valve? Anyone else experienced something similar? What should I check?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Mercedes E Klasse diesel is experiencing power loss, a whistling noise during acceleration, increased fuel consumption, and occasional stalling. The suspected cause is a faulty boost pressure actuator or a defective electrical bypass valve. It is recommended to have the vehicle professionally checked to confirm the issue and prevent further damage. The problem was confirmed to be the boost pressure actuator, and after repair, the vehicle runs smoothly again.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar I had a similar issue with my E Klasse Check the turbo actuator and boost control system An actuator fault is quite common Is the whistling noise constant or only under load?

Thanks for the quick reply The whistling noise is mostly when the turbocharger is active, especially under acceleration How did you pinpoint the boost pressure issue? Did you replace the turbo actuator yourself or take it to a workshop?

Mine was the boost pressure actuator too I didn't attempt the repair myself; took it straight to a workshop Diagnosis confirmed the turbo actuator was faulty Given your description, I'd recommend getting it professionally checked; don't want to risk further damage to the turbocharger

Thanks, that confirms my suspicion I'll book it in for a check-up Turns out it was indeed the boost pressure actuator The electrical bypass valve was defective Total repair cost 250€ Runs like new again!
