Sounds familiar I had a similar problem with my Mercedes E Klasse, although it was a few years newer Rough running and the check engine light are classic symptoms Drift compensation issues usually point to problems with the injectors themselves The car's sensors are likely detecting that the fuel injection isn't consistent across all cylinders Have you noticed any decrease in fuel economy Before you go too far down the rabbit hole, have you checked for any obvious leaks or wiring issues around the injectors

Thanks for the quick reply I haven't specifically checked for leaks or wiring problems yet, but I will definitely take a look When you had the issue, did the error message specifically mention drift compensation or compensation adjustment And did you end up replacing injectors, or just the faulty one

Yep, the error code was definitely related to drift compensation, something about the fuel trim being way out of whack I would strongly suggest getting a proper diagnosis from a workshop with experience on Mercedes diesel engines They have the tools to properly test each injector and see if it is within spec Replacing injectors can get expensive real quick They can run a diagnostic test, they can test each one individually and give you a solid answer Otherwise you are just guessing and throwing money at the problem Trust me, you don't want to mess with the fuel injection system too much without the right equipment

Thanks a lot for the advice I checked for leaks and obvious wiring issues but didn't find anything I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed that one of the injectors was defective and causing the drift compensation issue They replaced the faulty injector and performed a compensation adjustment The total cost was 515€ The engine is now running smoothly, and the check engine light is off I appreciate the help
