Thanks for the quick response A faulty cable connection huh I wouldn't have thought of that I don't remember the exact error code but it did seem to point to a specific control module Is that something a novice can diagnose or am I better off taking it in

Honestly checking the cable connection yourself can be tricky It involves locating the control module inspecting the wiring harness and potentially testing for continuity Could you accidentally cause more damage Possibly Given the symptoms and the error code pointing to a control module combined with your self-described lack of experience I'd recommend taking it to a workshop They can pinpoint the exact issue and repair or replace the connection Is it worth risking further damage to save a few bucks

Sounds frustrating I had a similar issue with my Mercedes E Klasse Is it possible the control module's cable connection to the BUS system is faulty That was the culprit in my case Symptoms were pretty much the same system failure audio cutting out and random warning lights Was the error message you pulled related to a specific control module
