Mercedes E Klasse Engine Issue Resolved

I am experiencing an issue with my 2014 Mercedes E Klasse, gasoline engine. The check engine light illuminates intermittently, and I've noticed a reduction in engine power. Furthermore, the engine idling is rough, almost as if it might stall. I suspect a defective throttle valve. Has anyone encountered similar symptoms? Could this be attributed to a faulty accelerator pedal module or the electronics within? I am trying to understand if the throttle sensor is the source of these response delay issues. What sort of replacement cost am I facing, generally speaking?

That sounds familiar. Though my experience was with a 2016 Ford Focus, diesel engine, the symptoms were remarkably similar. Check engine light, power loss... Was the response delay significant? For me, it turned out to be a faulty throttle position sensor. I wonder, have you scanned for any error codes yet?

Yes, I did scan for error codes, and it pointed toward the throttle valve. I am trying to understand if your issue was the same. You mentioned a throttle position sensor; is that the same as the throttle sensor? And if so, did you replace it yourself, or did you take it to a workshop?

Yes, the throttle position sensor is essentially the same as the throttle sensor. I tried a few things myself, but eventually, I took my Focus to a workshop. Given the Mercedes is a more complicated machine, it might be best to consider professional help. It ended up costing me around 200€, parts and labor. My mechanic mentioned the replacement cost varies greatly. In your case, it might be a bit higher. But I am not a mechanic, just offering my perspective.

I appreciate you sharing your experience! I took it to a workshop, and indeed, the throttle valve was defective. They replaced it for 265.0€, and the car is now running smoothly. The response delay is gone, and the check engine light is off. Thanks again for your help!
