Mercedes E Klasse Hybrid Battery Issue

My 2017 Mercedes E Klasse hybrid is showing some odd behavior. I've noticed the battery seems weak when starting, and the lights occasionally flicker. The car has 37644 km on it. I suspect a faulty battery voltage sensor. Could this be causing these symptoms?

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my BMW a while back, though it wasn't a hybrid. Weak starts and flickering lights pointed me towards battery problems too. Have you checked the battery voltage with a multimeter? What does the battery health indicator show, if your car has one? It could be the voltage sensor, but also check the battery charge level and perform basic battery maintenance first. A bad voltage sensor can definitely throw off the car's charging system and cause those symptoms.

Thanks for the info. Where exactly is the voltage sensor located, and is there a way to test it directly?

The voltage sensor location can vary, but it's usually attached to the battery or integrated into the battery management system. Testing it directly requires specific tools and knowledge – you'd need to measure its output voltage and compare it to the expected values. Honestly, for that kind of diagnostic work, it's best to get it checked at a reputable workshop. A faulty sensor can lead to overcharging or undercharging, which damages the battery in the long run.

I appreciate the advice. Took it to the shop, and they confirmed it was indeed the battery sensor. Repair cost was 315€. All sorted now.
