Mercedes E Klasse Hybrid check engine light and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Mercedes E Klasse hybrid experienced a check engine light and stalling when idling. The likely cause was identified as a malfunctioning fuel tank ventilation system, potentially due to blocked or cracked hoses or a defective pressure sensor. It was advised to avoid driving the vehicle until the issue was resolved to prevent further damage. The problem was confirmed to be a clogged tank ventilation valve and hoses, which were replaced, resolving the issue.

If it is clogged hoses could I fix that myself or is it better left to a professional Would that also explain why the check engine light is on

While you can visually inspect the hoses for blockages or cracks, diagnosing the root cause often requires specialized tools The check engine light is triggered because the engine control unit detects an abnormal pressure reading from the sensor I advise that you seek counsel from a qualified automotive repair shop They can perform a comprehensive diagnosis and execute the required repairs with precision

I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on It was the tank ventilation valve some of the hoses were clogged They replaced the valve, and the check engine light is off now, and the engine is no longer stalling The automotive repair cost was 175€ Really appreciate the help

The symptoms strongly suggest a malfunctioning fuel tank ventilation system The check engine light and engine stall at idle are telltale signs The most frequent cause is blocked or cracked ventilation hoses A defective pressure sensor could also be the origin I advise that you refrain from operating the vehicle until this issue is addressed Further driving could inflict damage upon other components
