Mercedes E Klasse Hybrid Engine Stalling Issue Resolved

My 2016 Mercedes E Klasse hybrid is exhibiting some concerning symptoms. The engine refuses to start on occasion, and when it does, it stalls at idle unpredictably. The check engine light is illuminated, and the engine runs roughly, accompanied by increased fuel consumption. An error is also stored in the error memory. I suspect a defective fuel pump or a related issue within the fuel system, possibly impacting proper gasoline delivery. Has anyone encountered similar difficulties? What auto repair steps have you taken to resolve this fuel pump problem?

That sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my E Klasse. I remember the engine stalling unexpectedly, especially annoying at traffic lights. Check all the connections to the fuel pump first. In my case, it turned out to be a corroded connector. Is the check engine light constantly on, or does it flicker?

Thank you for your swift response. The check engine light is illuminated constantly. Could you elaborate on the specific connectors you inspected? Was it visibly corroded, or did you require a multimeter to diagnose the issue?

It was pretty obvious once I looked closely. The connector going directly into the fuel pump was greenish and crusty. I tried cleaning it, but it didn't solve the issue permanently. Ultimately, I had to take it to a workshop to get the connector replaced and ensure proper gasoline delivery. I remember thinking I could fix it myself, but the fuel system seemed complex, and I didn't want to risk making things worse. If it is indeed the connector, I would advise you to get it professionally sorted. Could save you a lot of headache.

I appreciate your detailed explanation and learned from your experience. After inspecting the fuel pump connector, I found it was indeed defective. My local auto repair shop replaced the connector for 95€. Now the engine starts without issue, and the stalling has ceased. Once again, thank you for your invaluable assistance.
