Mercedes E Klasse Hybrid Transmission Issue

Has anyone encountered this issue on a 2021 Mercedes E Klasse hybrid? The check engine light and transmission indicator are on. The automatic transmission feels like it's slipping with unclean shifts, almost like an engine surge, and there's an occasional grinding noise. The error codes indicate a defective torque converter lock-up clutch, suggesting a defective automatic transmission converter.

That sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Mercedes E Klasse, though not the hybrid. Did you notice any difference in fuel economy, or feel any unusual vibrations before the lights came on? Is the error consistent, or does it only appear under specific driving conditions?

Those are good questions. Fuel economy seems about the same, but I have felt some minor vibrations at highway speeds for a few weeks now, nothing major. The error seems consistent, happening under most driving conditions, especially when the automatic transmission tries to lock up the torque converter. Does that match your experience?

Yes, that's pretty much what happened with mine. The vibrations were subtle at first, so I ignored them for a while, and then the lights and shifting issues appeared. If the error code points to the torque converter, and you're experiencing those symptoms, I would get it checked by a qualified mechanic quickly. Driving it further could cause more automatic transmission damage.

Thanks for the insight. I took it to a trusted independent workshop. They confirmed it was the torque converter lock-up clutch in the automatic transmission. The repair cost was 2120€. Hopefully, this resolves the issue. I appreciate the help.
