Thanks for your reply. I have not checked the gearbox oil level yet, but it is a good idea. Was your error message specific to the temperature sensor, or did it point to a more general transmission issue? Also, did you experience any grinding noises when shifting gears?

The error message was not explicit about the temperature sensor, but it indicated a problem within the automatic transmission system, leading to emergency mode. Yes, I did hear grinding noises when shifting gears. Considering all your symptoms, I would strongly suggest getting it checked by a workshop promptly to prevent further damage. It's better to address it early than to face a complete transmission failure.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to my local workshop, and it turned out to be a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor, which was causing the gearbox to behave erratically. The repair, including the sensor replacement and oil change, cost 365€. Hopefully, this resolves the shifting problems and prevents any future overheating problems. I appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction.

I have the same model, and I experienced similar issues not long ago. The engine warning light and the slipping transmission were the first signs. Have you checked your gearbox oil level? That was the root cause in my case. Low oil level can definitely cause overheating problems and trigger the temperature sensor to act up.
