Thanks for the tip Where exactly is this water sensor located on the G Klasse Is it easily accessible, or am I going to need special tools I am not very skilled with auto electronics, and I want to avoid making things worse I'm trying to figure out if this is something I can tackle myself.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the exact location on a G Klasse. On my BMW, it was relatively easy to access from underneath the car, near the oil pan. Given your limited experience, and the potential for electrical faults to cascade, I would advise taking it to a trusted workshop. A diagnostic scan will pinpoint the issue, and they can check the sensor and wiring harness thoroughly. Could save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

You were absolutely right. I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a faulty plug connection to the water sensor, just like you suspected. They cleaned it up and the error is gone. Cost me 95€ to fix. Thanks for the advice

Sounds familiar. I had a similar sensor fault with my older BMW, though it was an oil level sensor instead of a water sensor. The symptoms were identical: check engine light and rough running. Have you checked the cable and plug connection to the water sensor That was the culprit in my case – a corroded electrical fault. It might be a good starting point before you start suspecting the sensor itself.
