Mercedes GLA AdBlue System Issue

My 2020 Mercedes GLA diesel shows an AdBlue error after refilling The service light is now on and the car wont start The error memory mentions an issue with the AdBlue output from the tank Could this be related to emissions control and what are my options I hope it doesnt kill my fuel efficiency Has anyone seen this before

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Mercedes GLA diesel displayed an AdBlue error after refilling, leading to a service light and the car not starting. The issue was identified as a fault in the AdBlue output from the tank, likely related to the emissions control system. It was advised to consult a professional due to the complexity of the DEF system. The problem was resolved by a mechanic who replaced the defective part in the AdBlue delivery system, allowing the car to start properly again.

It sounds like you might have a faulty DEF fluid delivery system Think of it like a clogged artery in a human body even if the tank is full like a healthy heart the fluid isnt reaching where it needs to go to reduce emissions The error message persisting after filling the tank is a red flag Does the error message specify the dosing unit or the pump Knowing that will help narrow down the issue

The error doesnt specify the pump or the dosing unit unfortunately It just says AdBlue output from tank defective Is there any way to test these components myself or is this something best left to a professional

Given the lack of specific error codes and the fact that the car wont start its best to avoid further self-diagnosis Messing with the DEF system without proper tools and knowledge could create additional problems potentially impacting your emissions control system and even the engine itself I recommend taking it to a qualified workshop A faulty AdBlue delivery system can cause the engine to shut down to prevent damage which seems to be whats happening Expect a repair cost in the neighborhood of 250€

I took it to the workshop and you were right The mechanic confirmed a fault in the AdBlue delivery system replaced the defective part and cleared the error codes The car is starting fine now I appreciate the help

Gentlemen, AdBlue is a scam for all customers. I bought a Mercedes-Benz Citan to have some extra warranty. 100% disappointed. While the car was under warranty, they would get me back on the road with a control unit update. At the second intervention, I asked to change the system while it was still under warranty. "Don't worry," they told me! Warranty expired and a bill of €4000 to CHANGE THE SYSTEM. THE JOKE: THE CONTROL UNIT PIPES ARE NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION, THEY WANT €2000 TO ORDER THEM WITHOUT KNOWING WHEN THEY WILL ARRIVE!!! Another disaster: they gave me a wrong diagnosis: they had an exhaust gas sensor delivered from Germany (it doesn't exist in Italy) and the car was stopped for 1 week. Forget the sensor, if they hadn't lifted the Citan onto the bridge they wouldn't have noticed the disaster. I don't know what to do. I wrote to Germany (sorry, Luxembourg, the Germans become Italians), I wrote to "Striscia la Notizia" and various magazines. I am a sales agent, I talk about it every day with everyone. I have contacted a lawyer. We'll see. Regards

I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. It sounds like you're dealing with a complex situation involving both parts availability and warranty issues. While pursuing legal advice is a good step, you might also consider seeking a second opinion from another qualified mechanic or dealership. They might offer alternative solutions or confirm the diagnosis. Additionally, contacting Mercedes-Benz customer service directly could provide further assistance or escalate your case. If you have any specific questions about the technical aspects, feel free to ask.
