Thank you for your response. I did a vehicle diagnostics test and the results indicated a low battery voltage. However, before replacing the entire battery, I want to ascertain whether the sensor is definitively the culprit. You mentioned checking the battery voltage output with a multimeter. Could you elaborate on the readings you obtained, and perhaps share any further insights regarding the process of elimination you employed?

Certainly. If I recall correctly, the battery voltage reading was fluctuating erratically, despite the battery maintaining an adequate battery charge. I tried to fix the issue myself, but in the end I took the car to my preferred workshop. They confirmed that the sensor was defective and that low voltage alerts were triggered. After replacing the sensor, everything returned to normal and battery health improved significantly. Given your symptoms and diagnostics, it seems prudent to consult with a qualified technician to confirm the fault definitively. It could save you time and money in the long run.

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Mercedes some time ago. It also presented with weak starts and flickering lights. I'm not sure about the year of my car, but it sounds like it is a very similar model to yours. Initially, I suspected the battery itself, but after running vehicle diagnostics, the problem pointed towards the battery sensor. Have you checked the battery voltage output using a multimeter? A faulty sensor can provide inaccurate readings, leading to incorrect assessments of battery health.
